The Garment of Jealousy

Do not wear JEALOUSY, it does not fit……….

Jealousy defined - jealous resentment against a rival, a person enjoying success or advantage

You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans? 1 Corinthians 3:3

Anger is cruel and fury overwhelming, but who can stand before jealousy? Proverbs 27:4

The Bible speaks of jealousy in both positive and negative ways.  The Apostle Paul dealt with the issue of jealousy among the Corinthians and he wrote to them to address the issue.  His goal in writing was to inform, teach and empower believers to live from a heavenly perspective rather than earthly.  This is why he addressed the question in chapter 1 of 1 Corinthians 3:3; “Are you not wordily?” In other words when we operate from the heavenly perspective, jealousy would not be named among us.

Solomon writes to help us understand how powerful jealousy can be.  Who can stand against it?  There are cases where people have gone to extremes when operating in this spirit.  It is indeed a spirit.  . Numbers 5:14 (MEV) talks about an actual demonic spirit called jealousy, it reads, "If the spirit of jealousy comes on him and he is jealous of his wife." This jealousy is fused by a Satan spirit which will be out of control outside of kingdom living. It is dangerous, yet it can be control or dismissed.

In a positive sense, God is a jealous God and His name is jealous! “For you shall not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God-- (Exodus 34:14) This type of jealousy seen in old Testament scripture is very different than the humanistic type.  The Hebrew and Greek word used is different in meaning. God is jealous for our relationship with Him, which is good!
